Top 3 New DVD Releases - The Best DVDs Released This Summer

Creating a list of the best new DVD releases has been narrowed down to 3. There are a number of the DVDs released to the general public worthy of note, but these newly released DVDs have been outstanding in theaters and thus, deserve special treatment.

With the advent of modern technology, film-making for movies, and TV shows have the ability to make DVDs and Blu-Ray discs come out soon after the movie release date. Sometimes it feels like these titles are only taking a few months for them to be available to the public. The truth of the matter is, it's true.

Here's the top 3 new DVD releases for this summer. They might also become the best DVDs released ever.

1) Alice in Wonderland

Tim Burton has done it again including Johnny Depp to play the major role in the story of Alice in Wonderland. Here, Alice returns to Wonderland, meets some old friends, and gets twisted into a colorful film that creates a extraordinary color palette to movie audiences. After glorified itself in the theaters through IMAX, the release of the DVD is even better.

Wonderland has become a metaphor for what it means to rediscover the innocence of childhood. Alice in Wonderland on DVD will bring that feeling into people's homes where it will remain amazing forever.

2) The Wolfman

The modern twist on the classic 1941 original is a fairly decent remake. Benicio del Toro plays a utterly sinister lead role. He turns into the Wolfman when there is a full moon lurking above London.

Coincidentally Benicio plays a character named Ben who returns to his hometown to investigate the death of his brother only to find out that his father, played by Anthony Hopkins, is the Wolfman ready to train his young pup.

The release of the new Wolfman on DVD will captive a audience of hungry buyers ready to dim the lights come this Fall. As Halloween is just around the corner, this will be the best DVD out.

3) Avatar

When an Avatar received its big-screen release, audiences were presented with a wide-jawed flick that demonstrated the power of James Cameron and his ability to present film in a whole new way.

Now audiences can experience the special features, deleted scenes, and bare-bones extra features that will give viewers a new DVD experience.

Avatar is a film that explores other planets and other creatures that allow audiences to plunge into the head of director James Cameron. It explores a dialogue that littered with new archetypes and overlooks the standard movie structure. It is Pandora.

Now, viewers can own a piece of film-making history in their very own home with Avatar on DVD.

As you can see, film enthusiasts will agree that this list top 3 new DVD releases this summer might actually become the best DVDs released ever.

Samurai Deeper Kyo - Volume 1 Episodes 1 to 7 is Released

Based on the manga series by Akimine Kamijyo, Samurai Deeper Kyo is a Japanese anime TV series that's set to be released in the UK on the 13th of July. The DVD, which will include episodes 1-7 of the 26 episode series, follows the story of Kyoshiro and Demon Eyes Kyo among other characters in an epic sword fighting tale set in the 1600s.

The first episode opens with the epic battle scene of Sekigahara, where Kyoshiro and Demon Eyes Kyo, two samurai warriors, are engaged in a duel. This is then interrupted by a falling star hitting the ground and consuming both Kyoshiro and Demon Eyes Kyo.

The plot then moves forward in time (by four years) and a female bounty hunter by the name of Yuya is on the prowl for Demon Eyes Kyo. She discovers Kyoshiro instead, who is now a medicine man with no memory of his previous life as the most deadly warrior.

As Yuya recognises him, she proceeds to take him into custody. However, a fearsome snake monster that has been hunting Kyoshiro attacks them both. The plot then takes a twist and we discover that Kyoshiro has the soul of Demon Eyes Kyo inside him and with a bit of persuasion in battle, the warrior that is Demon Eyes Kyo rages deep within to win the fight and save Yuya.

From that moment on, every time Kyoshiro enters a battle, the fury of Demon Eyes Kyo is awakened inside him. It turns out that Demon Eyes Kyo is now looking to find his earthly body to return his soul to it's rightful place.

With epic sword fighting scenes and high quality animation, Samurai Deeper Kyo is a fantasy story with many twists and turns. The TV series has also been turned into a Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS game which is hugely popular. With the release of this new DVD in the UK, the English audience will now get to see their favourite characters battle it out on their screens whenever they wish.

Future releases are expected, but as of now, dates are unknown. I, like many other anime fans, have been eagerly awaiting this release. Directed by Junji Nishimura (Ranma ½), we can expect an all round good interpretation of the original manga which collected over 38 volumes.

If you're interested in this release, you'll be pleased to hear that there's not long to wait - Samurai Deeper Kyo Volume 1 will be released on DVD by MVM on 13th July 2009 and will be priced at £15.99.
